Welcome to New Members

Here is a welcome letter from Bjorn (sbs surf club el presidente)...........

We’re totally stoked to see you here at the SBS Surfclub. Thanks for sharing your good vibrations with us. We want you to know that every SBS Surfclub membership has been handcrafted in the serenity of a vintage surf shop by artisans who labor over every small detail. After the item has passed the scrutiny of these exacting perfectionists it is gently passed from hand to hand by Zen Buddhist Monks, down to the water’s edge of Te Arai Point or Maori bay depending where the surf is pumping. After a solemn chant, it is reverently placed on our sacred longboard. With this precious cargo aboard, it is then paddled out past the break by our resident Surf Swami. At the designated spot it is immersed in the holy New Zealand waters and taken back to the shore, where waiting wahines place it on a ponga platform, to be carried aloft, while dancing with joy, all the way to the top of the dunes. Here, it is allowed to slowly dry in the warmth of the sun. At sunset, one of the Dune Maidens collects the membership and places it into a hand woven basket made from flax. It is then taken to the transcendental tiki hut, to spend the night in cosmic peace, on a bed of freshly cut, blessed silver fern leaves. At sunrise, after morning meditation, it is lovingly lowered into a silk lined driftwood box by the Beach Yogi. A generous coat of surf wax is then rubbed onto the exterior of the membership by the healing hands of the Pipeline Guru, after which, it is levitated into the back of our ancient woodie, where amid hushed silence, a final blessing is bestowed by the Big Tane Mahuta in Waipoua forest, before departing on its journey to you.
For only 10 dollars you can join us and help building the University surfing community in its first year. An online subscription to the world wide wave forecasters from Hawaii, BUOYWEATHER is instantly yours.

May your days be filled with heaps of perfect waves…

Raglan 29/06/06

So for our first post i thought i would add the great photos taken by Louis and Bjorn of our little trip to Raglan. Damn it was so nice down there. What a quality wave! And no surprise, with that come crowds. It wasnt to bad when we went down on Thursday with about 20 people in the water. Although Louis did mangage to snake some waves off me :) The weekend would have been manic.
